E-mail Signature Generator

Guidelines

  • Be Professional: Your email signature is connected to The Citadel's name and reputation.
  • Be Concise: Include only your name, title, office/school, and contact information. Including only necessary information is especially helpful to those reading on mobile devices or using a screen reader.
  • Refrain from Quotes or Epigrams: While these may reflect your personal views, they may not reflect the official position of The Citadel and may be misinterpreted by recipients as being "official" college communication.
  • Use only The Citadel logo: Use only The Citadel brandmark. Use of the Intercollegiate Athletic logos is restricted to Citadel Athletics. Do not use additional images or logos within the email signature. Images in email signatures will appear as attachments and confuse the recipient, delay the email, be blocked by certain systems, or load incorrectly as a symbol. Images can also increase the size of email inboxes exponentially.
  • Avoid Disclaimers: Do not include boilerplate or disclaimer language unless your role necessitates the inclusion (legal language or open records statement). While specific exemptions may apply in some instances, the college's emails are public records subject to South Carolina's Freedom of Information Act.
  • Do not Modify: Once you have used the signature block generator, do not modify the fonts, colors, or add additional content. Simply cut and paste the formatted signature into Outlook.
  • Brand Guidelines: Your signature block is covered by The Citadel brand guidelines and should reflect that standard.
